Braintree and PayPal Developer Relations Become One Team

It’s a new year and there are many exciting things ahead as we continue our work to provide developers and innovators -- you -- with easy access to seamless yet sophisticated payment tools for building beautiful, next-generation commerce experiences. Since Braintree launched in 2007, our core focus has been on creating a global payments platform that developers around the world could innovate on top of -- opening up new markets while creating completely new experiences. In the past few years, we’ve seen this vision come to life with companies like HotelTonight, Bonobos and Poshmark.

Now that Braintree has become part of the PayPal family, we have even more resources to commit to our developers, and will work hard to ensure that our developer tools are accessible to all the builders and engineers working on the next Uber, Airbnb and OpenTable.

Which brings me to some great news. Today, we welcome PayPal’s Developer Relations team -- led by John Lunn -- to Braintree. Now that Braintree is officially part of PayPal, it makes sense to bring these two amazing teams together to evangelize the good work of both PayPal APIs and Braintree SDKs. Together, we’ll amplify our support of the developer community, and ensure the question of how to accept payments through mobile or online requires only one answer around the world.

The PayPal Developer Relations team has been instrumental in making sure that developers have great access to the best that PayPal has to offer. The team led the relaunch of several of PayPal’s APIs and mobile SDKs. Last year they launched Startup Blueprint, a program that provides growing startups with the tools and resources needed to scale and succeed, along with PayPal’s Battle Hacks across 10 cities globally.

With a united developer relations team, we will use our knowledge of our combined developer tools to better help the developers, entrepreneurs and builders of the world as they create innovative commerce experiences. And this is just the beginning -- the first step in combining forces and fully realizing the potential of a united Braintree and PayPal.

John and team, welcome to Braintree.
