Loyal-Tree

My alarm sounds and I opt to snooze for nine more minutes and bury deeper into my comfy Casper mattress. Cold Chicago dawns don’t provoke most to leap out of bed. As I greet the day, I sip Your Tea and organize my most stretchable clothing in my Everlane weekender bag for Thanksgiving back home. I throw on a Brandy Melville sweater and a BaubleBar necklace, and decide to order an Uber for the chilly commute. Once at work, I settle into my desk, munch a Glazed & Infused donut and gaze fondly at a print of Paris from Modcloth pinned above my workspace. After checking the estimated time it will take me to get to the suburbs on Waze, I last-minute order a flower arrangement from The Bouqs Co. for family and dive head-first into the day’s to-do list.

An average morning as a Millennial, and I have already relied upon goods and services from ten merchants who’ve integrated with Braintree’s payments platform. It is exciting to work for an organization that helps power payments for the apps and websites I use daily. Prior to my tenure here, I patronized most of these businesses heavily, but having knowledge of the level of trust and faith they put in our company leads me to frequent their sites and apps even more routinely. I know many Braintreeps can speak for the same affinity.

Braintree as a whole certainly relies on many of our merchants to fulfill needs around the office. We are lucky to receive lunch daily from Fooda, who is always on time and responsive to our requests. Take one glance around the office during the busy holiday shopping season, and you will see purple Jet boxes piled high. Many employees use educational stipends on part-time or bootcamp classes at nearby General Assembly. Employees fire up the HotelTonight app frequently for last-minute trips, and adore the easy Pay with PayPal option. The Account Management group, for instance, often suggests that team gifts are purchased exclusively from our clients, and with such an innovative array of Braintree merchants, this is hardly limiting. This year’s Halloween gift exchange featured themed nail decals from Jamberry and fun handcrafted finds from ScoutMob.

In addition to a seamless payment integration, our merchants truly tout best-in-class offerings that make them leaders in their respective industries. Turo is preferred among Chicago’s city-dwelling Braintreeps who need a short-term car rental for errands or weekend plans. Even teammates overseas are seeing a proliferation of Braintree-powered apps due to our international growth. For example, HungryHouse is a favorite with our London squad because of the dining options available, security of payment information, and speedy ordering process. Come Friday night Happy Hour, our Australian team will order from BoozeBud to quench their thirst, which they love because of the variety of craft beers to mix and match.

Outside of the office, many of us ’treeps are consumers and influencers in our social and familial spheres. The goodwill that comes from our strong merchant relationships in the office leads to a great degree of external love-spreading. Whether it is sending a link to friends to order a ThredUp bag for Fall closet cleanout, or showing grandma how to use TaskRabbit at the dinner table, we all share our best merchant experiences in our personal lives. We even reciprocate feedback to our merchants on the checkout flow, ordering process, and product or service quality.

This is a noticeable distinction I believe Braintree makes from others in the payments space. In addition to white-glove service and an exceptional developer experience, Braintree truly aims to be a partner rather than just a provider. We care deeply and work hard to contribute to the success of our merchants, and it puts a smile on our faces to see one of their names in the headlines. It is infinitely motivating to know that both Braintree and the merchants we serve are shaping modern-day culture and society for the better, and it is thrilling to work for a company that serves to streamline integral parts of everyday life. My work life and personal life thus intertwine to a great degree, and I can’t say that I mind in the slightest. After all, following a hard day’s work, I have a Club W delivery waiting on my doorstep.
