As mobile commerce adoption increases around the globe, we at Braintree are focused on evolving and growing alongside our merchants. As a global economic leader, France is seeing a significant increase in the adoption of online and mobile commerce; in Q2 2016, 27% of purchases happened on mobile. Today, we are excited to share that we are expanding our presence in France, as well as welcoming a French country manager to the Braintree team.
Since we opened our doors in France in 2012, we’ve been proud to work side by side with many innovative French merchants such as Withings and Resto-In, as well as famous fast growing international companies such as Airbnb, Uber, and Dropbox. Together with PayPal, we’ll continue to build upon the strong groundwork laid over many years, and we’ll be bolstering our services in the market, including increasing our local One Touch footprint.
We are also welcoming Eric Tudoux to the team as the French country manager for Braintree. Eric brings an extensive background in the fintech industry, and will be looking to grow the current sales and support team throughout France.
We recently reached our third year as a part of PayPal, and we shared that we have seen a 25x increase in transactions from Q2 2013 to Q2 2016 1. A big factor in this growth is our commitment to providing our merchants with new, innovative ways to pay, such as PayPal, Apple Pay, and UnionPay, which will soon be available in the region. We understand how important it is for businesses to have the right partners, especially when it comes to payments, and we are excited to continue building relationships with merchants throughout France.
